Is that right or far wrong?

| | I would say it should be more like 25 than 19. |

| | Hello Mandinko, Three scorecards are submitted for handicap and the best of the 3 scorecards is the one that is used to allot your handicap, however, the other two are taking in to consideration and an upward/downward adjustment could be made depending on these cards. CONGU stipulate that a players handicap should be set to the best of his/hers playing ability, and it is not the average of 3 cards as many golfers think. Bear in mind that the handicap alloted is purely based on the best of the three cards which has not taken into consideration the other two cards, which would be done once you submit them for your handicap. Also, CONGU rules stipulate that any number of shots above a double-bogey are rounded down to double-bogey (i.e. a 9 on a Par 5 would be reduced two shots to a 7) for handicap purposes. we tend to limit this to a maximum of 3 as we feel it's fairer otherwise someone submitting a card with a gross score of 98 on a course with an SSS of 70 could have around 7 shots reduced resulting in a handicap of 21, as we'd only cut off 3 the handicap would be 25. Again, this done taking into consideration the other 2 cards to ensure that the handicap we allot fairly reflects the players ability. I hope this explanation helps. If not, please let me know if you have any further questions. |
