| Just wondered what your thoughts are on temporary greens and tees. I have just played a course where there was 18 temporary tees and 10 greens. No where was this infomation shown, and i was still charged the full green fee!!!!

| That is annoying when that happens.
At least you managed to get out and play.

| | It's always worth calling the course ahead of playing to check on course condition and number of temporaries in use. If it seems excessive then barter for a discount then, if they're not flexible, cancel the tee and play elsewhere. Nothing worse than arriving at a course to find out that you're not really playing the full course. |

| Thats so right it should be cheaper.
Its also worth noting that temporary greens and tee's reduce the length of the whole significantly and so I have found my h'cap has come down which is going to hurt me come summer. |

| Yes i agree that it can effect your handicap. But in a recent discission with some fellow golfers and a club pro he stated that as you do not get so much roll in the winter so therefore the length of the hole shouldn't matter or effect your handicap. Don't know who he was trying to kid

Don't know who he was trying to kid Hi Tiger, the Pro that you spoke to is correct in saying that winter conditions and greens cancel out the shorter courses and, based on the information in our system, handicaps do not improve over the winter period anymore than they do during summer. Many courses also provide winter scorecards that typically reduce the SSS value to take into account the shorter course length. |

I agree Elites points however there is nothing in any system that shows people also play less in winter therefore enter fewer rounds (you can check my account elite) and please you got accept that when I top a drive from the tee and it still ends up going 200+ yards the icy conditions do affect the score.
I know my h'cap has come down over winter and I'm not looking forward to the summer because of it

| Clubs should display any temporary tees or greens and offer a discount if there are more than 25% in use, that's my opinion for what it's worth.
