My name is Tina and I live in Hampshire. I've been visiting these pages for a few weeks now and reading articles with interest, so thought it was about time I showed my face and got involved.

I've only been playing golf for 4 months now and taking lessons in between... improving slowly, but enjoying every minute of it.

Hello Tina and welcome,

I only came upon this site by chance early in November as i was looking for a ruling. Although under used i am sure it will become more popular in the near future.

Thank you for your replies, very sweet of you.

Duke, you say you cant break 80... I can't break 120! Although I hit the ball pretty straight it does't go very far so I wonder if my scores will ever come down. Maybe I should start going to the gym as well.

Hello Tina

You just need to persevere. Believe me, your scores will come down.

I think you are right to have lessons so early on, to help you to develop a good swing technique.

Unfortunately I didn't have lessons until I had been playing for about 2 years, and it was difficult to correct some bad habits that had crept in.

As your scores come down, you will realise what you are capable of, and you will begin to enjoy your golf even more.

Best wishes,

Albert Ross

Albert, i was chatting to the owner of Axe Cliff golf club today about lessons and he said it was a good thing for me to have them now, (after 6 months) of golfing, because i might get to many bad habits and not be able to shake them off if i carry on much longer.

The only trouble is that lessons cost a bit and you need probably 6 at least!!

If you are going to carry on with the game, they are a worth while investment.
Much more enjoyable when you play well.
