| The putting green has water on three sides. At the front and left the hazard is marked with yellow stakes at the rear by red stakes. Are you entitled to take lateral relief, 2 club lengths no nearer the hole, in both the following situations:
1. The ball goes over the water in front of the putting green, bounces on the green and goes into the lateral hazard.
2. The ball goes over the water in front of the putting green continues in the air over the green and lands in the lateral hazard at the rear of the green.
It has been suggested to me that in situation 2 the lateral water hazard relief would not be available but I am not sure why this should be the case as in both situations the ball last crossed the margin of the lateral water hazard at the same point albeit that in example 1 it did so having first hit the putting surface whilst in example 2 it entered the lateral water hazard from the air.
Advice would be appreciated. |
